This was a complete accident. Sort of. Originally, this piece was going to be a David Bowie tribute. Due to his passing and me being fond of his music, I thought that a tribue using a photo from the cover shoot for his 1973 album, Aladdin Sane, would be perfect. Although, my inspiration was more from his iconic track, “Space Oddity” from his second album, David Bowie that came out in 1969. Although, I had put that on my backburner when I was struggling with the space part. Ironically, when I found the image of this child, I went full force into the space and used many different renders, color balances, and plenty of different tutorials to create the stars and other features. I changed the color on the child and decided that if this was the child’s imagination, that there should be some childhood aspects rather than just a laser gun. I decided that I was going to “draw” some features that children draw today. This came out much better than I had ever intended. I still wish I did some of this with the David Bowie cover photo, but I could still do something similar using this as a base.
